School Announcements
SOCK IT TO VIOLENCE
To raise awareness for National School Violence Week, the Community Service Club will be collecting new socks so we can "SOCK IT TO VIOLENCE"  Please bring new socks by October 31st  for children and adults and place them in the box in the front hallway.  The Community Service Club will donate them to a local shelter for those who have been affected by domestic violence.  

 
8th GRADE WASHINGTON DC TRIP

The 8th Grade trip to Washington DC will take place from June 3-5, 2015.  Please click here for the letter, permission slip, and payment instructions.  Please make sure the permission slip is filled out and brought to school.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact GW.

 
HALLOWEEN CANTEEN

The Halloween Canteen will be this Friday, October 24th from 7- 9 pm.  Permission slips will be in the main office on Tuesday afternoon.  Tickets may be purchased on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday during rec.  If you have prepaid, your child may pick up their ticket on any of those days.  The PTO is also collecting non-perishable food for the Wayne Food Pantry.  Click here  for a permission slip. 


 
VETERANS DAY PROGAM

Our Veterans Day Program will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2014.  We hope you can join us as we celebrate and honor  the commitment of our service men and women in defense of our country and freedom.  A light breakfast will be served at 8:30 am and the celebration will begin at 9:00 am.   For a guest data form, please click here.

Physical Education Uniforms
The physical education department has uniforms for sale.  The cost of the uniform is $12 for both the shirt and shorts. Locks will also be sold. The cost is $4.00. If you need to purchase one of the items separately the cost is $3.00 for the shirt and $9 for the shorts.

The only way to purchase the uniform is by using a credit card. You must go to the George Washington Middle School website and on the left side of the screen click on the Parents tab then Student Activity Payments. You will then be directed to Community Pass at which point you login if you have an account or create one. Then select GWMS Physical Education uniform’s and locks, etc.

You will then choose the shirt, short, size and quantity (max of two uniforms per student).

The physical education teachers will receive a listing of those students who purchased a shirt or shorts and will distribute them to the student.
JOHNS HOPKINS CENTER FOR TALENTED YOUTH
Attention 7th Grade Parents:
The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, Talent Search 2015, is currently accepting registrations for the SAT (or ACT).  The purpose of the Talent Search is to identify and assess the academic abilities of highly able students.  To qualify for the Talent Search, a student must have scored in the Advanced Proficient level (250 and above in the English Language Arts or Mathematics) on the 2014 NJ ASK.  Additional information can be found on the Johns Hopkins website:  www.cty.jhu.edu/talent>.   If you would like to have your student participate in this program, please apply to the Talent Search online or contact Johns Hopkins directly at 410-735-6278.
The decision to participate is strictly up to each student’s parent/guardian and this program does not have any impact on academic placement at the middle school level, nor is it an endorsement of Johns Hopkins University.
IMPORTANT UPDATE ON GW PAVERS
IMPORTANT PAVER UPDATE:
Commemorate your child's time at GW with a commemorative paver. The PTO is looking forward to the beautification of the front courtyard. We are putting in a paver patio, walkway and an outdoor class room. In order to continue to raise funds for this project, the George Washington Middle School PTO is offering engraved bricks. This is a great way to commemorate your child’s graduation, birthday, family name, in memory of, company name etc. We will be closing out the orders on Wednesday, October 22nd and the cost of the pavers are $45.00
